About Ms. Cheers
My name is Ms. Cheers. I have the privilege of teaching 5th grade for the 2016 - 2017 school year. I have been in the educational system for 17 years. In order to accomplish this feet, I attended Austin Pay State University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree. I then attended Cumberland University where I received my Master of Arts in Education. I then decided to continue my education and attended Grand Canyon University where I received my Master of Education in Curriculum/Instructional: Technologies as well as my Master of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
I am a member of Cambridge Who’s Who, the National Teacher’s Association, Memphis Education Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Alpha Phi Omega, Inc.
I teach because I have a desire to make a difference in this world. I teach because, for me, it's the most effective and most enjoyable way to change the world. I teach because I love the look in a child’s eyes when they accomplish a task they thought they would never be able to do. As a result of my desire to always give my students 110%, I expect them to always give no less than 100% each time they enter my class. I expect them to put forth an effort and try and never let anything defeat them. I expect them to always to their very best and to reach beyond the starts. I expect my students to always come out on top.
My favorite educational quote is "The objective of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives" (Robert Maynard Hutchins). My class motto is “Good, Better, Best never let it rest until your Good is better and your Better is best!” (Mother Goose).
My hometown is Memphis, Tennessee. I am a proud product of the Memphis City School System and Whitehaven Elementary. In my leisure I enjoy traveling, playing games, bowling, reading, learning how to do new things, and being adventurous. I have a beautiful daughter and two dogs; a schipperke and a German Shepard.
“You must be careful how you walk and where you go, for there are those following you who will set their feet where yours are set.” – Robert E. Lee
